• Citroen MD appoints dealer performance manager and seeks new partners

  Citroen managing director Karl Howkins has taken on a network performance manager and is looking for new dealer group partners, but told Motor Trader he’s working to improve relations with existing dealers.
  Howkins described Citroen’s most recent NFDA dealer attitude survey performance as “absolutely horrendous.”

• The Lead Agency has appointed Chris Gawor as its new head of agency partnerships.

  The Lead Agency has appointed Auto Trader’s former agency sales director Chris Gawor as its new head of agency partnerships.
  Gawor, who arrives with 20 years of media sales experience, will be responsible for developing strategies that grow and develop its relationships with key media partners to drive TLA’s success in approved used, fleet and business and commercial.

  SsangYong has appointed four new dealers to its growing UK network
  The new dealers are Broach Hill Garage in Driffield, Esplanade on the Isle of Wight, Fun Motors in Lower Darwen and Unity in Tredington
  The Korean brand is actively looking for dealers to represent the brand in Birmingham (North), Bristol, Inverness, Liverpool, Oxford, Portsmouth, Southampton, Swansea, Teesside and Telford.

• Polestar appoints sales boss for retail operation

  Mike Whittington has joined Polestar to lead the company’s global sales operations.
  He joins Polestar with 20 years’ experience in global infrastructure, e-commerce strategy and new electric vehicle introductions at Jaguar Land Rover, PSA, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.
  Polestar wants to eschew the traditional dealer model and is looking at new retail concepts, including the so called Polestar Spaces.

• The MFG Group appoints Tony Jones as National Sales Manager – UK.

  The MFG Group continues its senior executive recruitment programme with the announcement that Tony Jones has joined the business as National Sales Manager – UK.
  Tony replaces Rob Draper (Acting NSM–UK) from September 1st in a move which sees Draper take on the role for expanding the company’s ever-growing presence in Asia Pacific. Jones is the latest of several senior key appointments in 2018 as the UK-based automotive training and consultancy business rapidly grows its team of industry experts.

  The Financial Times sixth fastest growing European company has appointed its first Chief Marketing Officer to accelerate its disruption of the automotive market.
  Carwow - the online car buying website which last year raised $39 million in Series C funding - has appointed Phil Lloyd, previous Head of Advertising at Paddy Power, as Chief Marketing Officer to add further strategic direction to its leadership team.

• Vertu appoints Andy Goss as non-exec director

  Vertu Motors has appointed Andrew Goss to the board as an independent non-executive director.
  Goss brings to the group 39 years of experience in the automotive sector, having held senior roles in Citroen UK, Nissan Europe, Lexus (GB), Toyota (GB), Porsche and most recently Jaguar Land Rover.
  Between 2010 and 2013 he headed Jaguar Land Rover’s business in North America as its president and CEO.

• Waylands Automotive appoints ex-Ridgeway directors to board

  Waylands Automotive has appointed James Smullen and Richard Spencer as directors, joining CEO John O’Hanlon on the board.
  Smullen joins Waylands as finance director having previously worked for Ridgeway and Marshall Motor Group.
  He joined Ridgeway after qualifying as a chartered accountant with Grant Thornton and specialising in motor retail.

• Manheim recruits ex-Mazda UK used car remarketing manager

  Manheim has appointed Tamara Brown as corporate and manufacturer sales director.
  Brown joins Manheim from her role as used car and remarketing manager for Mazda UK, winner of the Motor Trader Quality Approved Car Network Award in 2016.
